At Rackheath, the children from Year 3 to Year 6 have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument with peripatetic teachers. We have opportunities for children to learn the guitar, flute, trumpet or violin. Each child in Years 3 – 6 will also have Ukulele lessons for 40 minutes a week.
Through the year the children get the opportunity to go a variety of trips. Over the last year classes and groups have been to the theatre, museums, Norwich Castle and places of worship. In previous years classes have also visited: the cinema, a whole school visit to Banham Zoo, Historical sites, beaches as well as local trips. We have also been visited by authors and sportsmen and women as well as by visiting theatre companies. Our Year 3 and 4 children go on a 2-night residential and our year 6 go for a whole school week.
The school is committed to competitive sports and many children took part in leagues and competitions in a total of 8 sports including cross country, cricket, swimming and rounders.
In May 2014 our Year 3 children were selected to play on the pitch at Twickenham at half time in the Rugby Premiership Final. In 2014-15 the boys football team won the cluster league and the girl’s team won the North Norfolk Tournament before coming third in the county.
At the start of each half term a list of clubs is sent home and parents are invited to sign their children up for the clubs on lists which are in the office.
