In Science, the Year 6 children have been learning about various forces and this week they focused on air resistance. The whole class had a running race on the playground and some of the children had to hold large pieces of cardboard at different angles. This helped demonstrate that air resistance is a type of friction between air and another material. When running, air particles hit against the cardboard, making it more different for the children to move forwards.
We then discussed how streamlined shapes cause less air resistance than others.
