It has been a busy and exciting start to the New Year in Year 2. We have welcomed Mrs Watson to our classroom. She is training with us to be a teacher and very much enjoying being with the lovely Year 2 children.
We have begun a new topic called ‘Cold, cold, cold’. I did consider Frozen but for some strange reason decided against it! The children have been enjoying learning about conditions in the Arctic and Antarctic, thinking about what they would need to take with them if they went there to explore and learning about Inuit life in both the past and present day. We have shared a wonderful story called ‘Polar Bear Son’ and are looking forward to more exciting stories about polar bears and penguins!
The highlight of this topic has to be our milk-jug igloo which we are constructing in our classroom! We realised on Friday that once completed we will not be able to get it out of our classroom without sawing it! The children do not mind though as they are determined that it is going to stay. Please come in and have a look at construction so far. We are very grateful for all of your clean 4 pint milk bottles and need more please!
If you haven’t looked at Sumdog with your child recently then please take a look as Mr Cavender has set up a new Whole School Challenge for this term.
