Holidays
Parents will be aware that in September 2013 the Department for Education issued guidelines about term time holidays. We no longer issue request for holidays forms as Headteachers are now only allowed to authorise holidays in extremely exceptional circumstances. The governors have modified our policy in line with this directive.
In the interests of child safety we would still like to be informed by parents if they plan to take their children out of school. Although the time cannot be authorised we will return a letter informing you of your child’s current attendance rate. Those children with an attendance rate below, or at risk of falling below, 90% may be required to attend a meeting at school to discuss the situation further.
However, it is worth remembering that attendance at Rackheath Primary is above average. This is thanks to the commitment of families who attend regularly and only take holidays occasionally during term time. It is not our intention for families with good attendance records to be penalised.
